History
In the year 1985, Daniel H. King was Honorably Discharged from the Canadian Rangers, a sub-component of the Canadian Army Reserve under the Canadian Armed Forces. Specifically, the Canadian Rangers were responsible for providing a limited military presence in remote, isolated, and sparsely populated regions of Canada. They also acted as guides, scouts, and subject-matter experts in disciplines such as wilderness survival when other forces and Army components were operating within their area of operation.
Inspired by the scouting, surveillance, and first response nature of the Canadian Rangers, and unable to properly fit himself back into society, Daniel King decided to start the Ranger Defense Division PMC. Initially made up of some of his buddies and veterans from various sections of the Canadian Armed Forces, RDD only managed to land small security contracts for various companies until roughly twenty years later. By 2005, RDD was under significant financial distress, and was no longer able to get enough high paying contracts to pay out its operatives. In response, all military equipment was sold off and personnel were let go, though Daniel King remained in ownership of the PMC's name as it closed down.
As luck would have it, fifteen years later the world experienced a bit of a boom within the Private Military Company scene. Seeing the introduction of multiple new PMCs across the world including Black Mantis (USA), Razor Security Detail (Australian), Greystone (UK), and Chimera CBRN Solutions (Russia) and their relative financial success, Daniel King took it upon himself to revive the Ranger Defense Division name in order to achieve the same within the Canadian region of the world. As it would turn out, this decision came just in time, as RDD was able to use its historical roots within Canada to earn the trust of many employers, eventually out-competing and assimilating a more vehicularly focused PMC known as "Mammoth Armored Defense Detail" by 2022.
Having laid claim to most if not all contracts available within Canada, RDD set its eyes on the global scene, one with which was already being infected with the same PMCs who had originally inspired its rebirth. Within its first year of out-of-country deployments, RDD took a major interest in humanitarian aid contracts, eventually forming a new team that heavily focused on internal medical aid and external humanitarian operations.
By the year 2023, RDD had grown exponentially, formed new team branches within itself, appointed directors, and eventually put together its final squad, "Cardinal". Since then, they have continued to succesfully campaign across the global PMC scene, operating under a strict morally pure doctrine that most of its competing Private Military Company's tend to cross the line of while also being more operationally succesful than other Company's whom they have friendly ties with.
Squad Structure
Spirit is the Ranger Defense Division's main infantry ground force. Originally the only section in the PMC, Spirit has been here from the beginning. This division is used for almost 100% of operations within RDD, able to complete a wide range of objectives seamlessly. Currently headed by Director Daniel Sturges.
