A Fool's Errand

The following excerpt is of a recording of O5-09 and The Administrator's first meeting with each other.

The Administrator: "So I heard that you've been talking poorly about what I've been trying to do here. You've got my attention now, use it wisely. What do you think of the Foundation?"

O5-09: "Your so-called "Foundation" is a waste of time. Upholding normality? No, more like trying to define it by your own parameters. In the long run, everything you do won't matter unless you cross the line you drew for yourself. You can Secure, Contain, and Protect every goddamn "anomaly" that ever shows up on your radar, but after all of that, you cannot save humanity from itself. They will fight. They will die. At the end of the day, behind all of your hard work building this Foundation, you will have to make a choice. Stop them from killing themselves, or let them follow their course. No matter what you do, you will fail. How about this, I'll give you a new motto."

"Secure. Contain. Protect. Right?"

"Secure a false sense of hope. Contain what we deem anomalous. Protect humanity until it no longer becomes a priority."
